Edgenuity is an online course and curriculum that are built using an instructional model grounded in research and are aligned to state standards, the Common Core, and the NGSS. They combine direct-instruction videos featuring expert, on-screen teachers with rigorous assignments, performance tasks, and assessments to engage students and ensure subject-area mastery.
This program was designed for virtual learning, but this does not mean that students are on their own! We will use this platform in a blended model. This means that we will still "meet" virtually through Google Meet. It means that students will collaborate and work on projects together that support the content, as well as their social-emotional learning needs. Other districts in the state have used this blended model of Edgenuity with success.

You have to complete each part of the lesson in order to move forward.
When you get to a quiz, assignment or test you will need to pass it with a 70% or above in order to move forward.
You get three attempts to pass with a 70% or above, but don’t race through things, remember you want to keep your grade up. If you are moving through things too quickly your teacher may ask you to show your notes, and retake things in order to ensure you are learning the material and passing the course.
When you get to a Quiz or Unit test you will need your teacher to open it for you.
Take notes, you can do this on your own, and you can do this within your course. You can use all of your notes on the quizzes, assignments, and tests, so taking notes will be very helpful.
Working every day will help you stay on track
Teachers will guide you and alert you and your parents if you are not logging in regularly, falling behind or you have a low grade.

You can view your grade on StudentVUE or ParentVUE. Your grade is updated every week on Monday through StudentVUE or ParentVUE.
When you log in, you will see the snapshot of your grade for the week prior, which may or may not match the grade your see in Edgenuity. Your teachers may post on a Friday afternoon and you may have done work over the weekend, but the grade should be close. Please know that teachers will contact parents if a student’s grade falls below 70%.
First, verify the following:
You've watched each video all the way through
You've completed each part of the lesson
You've passed each quiz, assignment, and test with a 70% or above
If you're trying to take a quiz or unit test, you will have to wait for your teacher to open it. This will be done during our google meets.
This is the grade you see when you are on the Edgenuity dashboard. The ACTUAL GRADE is the grade that is typically recorded into Synergy and used for report cards, progress reports, and to determine eligibility for school athletics and activities. This is the grade we use most often as it incorporates any zeros a student may have if they have any missing work.
Overall Grade is the average of your grades on submitted assignments but is not a true reflection of your grade for a report card.
The OVERALL grade is just the quality of work grade, meaning for everything they have turned in, it averages all those scores, it doesn’t account for any missing assignments, so we don’t really use this grade too often. When used, I typically put the OVERALL grade in this perspective --- “Johnny is a bit behind and has 3 missing assignments, but the work he has completed shows good proficiency. I know that because his OVERALL grade is 88%. However, his ACTUAL grade is currently a 65%. So, what can we do to help get him caught up?”
Relative Grade will be the grade you will see on your report card at the end of the semester and includes everything in the course, including incomplete assignments.
The RELATIVE grade is the grade we use at the end of the semester, it is “the walk away grade” meaning if they stopped working right then and there, that is the grade they would receive. In order to pass the class a student must have a 60% or higher RELATIVE grade. To see their RELATIVE grade a student must open the class report tab in their course. We will switch to the relative grade when we get closer to the end of the class.
Edgenuity works best in Chrome or Firefox. Make sure your computer meets the technical requirements.
