The mission of the Newcomer Summer Program is to accelerate the academic and personal growth of refugee and immigrant students by providing a comprehensive summer program that focuses on English Language Development, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts.
Students must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Newcomer Summer Program
Enrolled in APS in grades 5th grade-12th grade in SY25/26
English learner
In U.S. schools for less than 4 full academic school years
ACCESS/WIDA scores at 3.0 or below

Each year we hire a team of passionate educators including teachers (ELD, Math, Science, Social Studies), family liaisons, newcomer specialists and coordinators.
All applicants must be current APS employees
Teachers must be licensed to teach secondary (ELD/ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Dance)
Speaking more than one language is a plus but not required!
