I'm a native New Mexican born in Albuquerque and raised in rural central NM. I earned my BA degree in Psychology and MA degree in Special Education at UNM. GO LOBOS! I'm a proud mama of 3 humans and 3 fur babies. In my free time I volunteer at my church, travel, and do yoga. I love watching baseball and going to locally owned restaurants and coffee shops. I return to my favorites often, especially when they host live music.
I've worked in the field of Special Education since 2003 in a variety of roles. I started my career as an Early Intervention (birth-3, IDEA part C.) Developmental Specialist providing home and community based support for children and their caregivers, which fostered my firm belief that learning is best achieved through parent-student-teacher collaboration. I've also contracted as a Child Find Coordinator and Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver Case Manager. I LOVE eCADEMY K8 and have been at this virtual campus since it opened in 2020. I've been at APS since 2016, working with elementary and middle school students in cross-categorical classroom and district program settings. In addition to my professional experiences, two of my three children had IEPs-one with a learning disability and one with gifted eligibility. Despite my broad special education background, I often learn something new about this diverse and essential field.
