Curriculum
This year we will use a new curriculum for academic instruction. Because we are moving to Digital Learning for a portion of the year we need a curriculum that is consistent across the grade levels. This consistency will make it easier for parents to manage the online portals for all of their students. This year will create a shift in teacher and parent partnerships with regard to learning. While teachers are the facilitators and instructors, parents will be Learning Coaches during the time the students are working from home. I look forward to creating that partnership with you to make this the best year possible for our Hawks.
Edgenuity is a Virtual Curriculum that provides a full year of standards-aligned, research-based content with lessons logically organized into units. You may view the content taught for each subject area by clicking on the dropdown menu under the Curriculum tab.
I will be instructing through this portal but making adjustments to the rigor of the lessons and content based on the differentiated needs of my students.
Here is a link to a video describing the partnership between the parent as a Learning Coach and the Teacher. The video describes a system where the student is solely online learning. The video suggests a learning schedule, however our Hawks will follow my class schedule which looks different than the ones they suggest. Once we move into a hybrid model for learning the role of the parent will shift. This video gives you a good idea of how the program works.
Edgenuity Resources for Parents and Students
Here are links to resources for how to navigate the Edgenuity platform. I would highly suggest that you review these resources with your student before we start on Monday. Students were sent their login information to their Gmail account which can be accessed on Classlink or in their Chrome menu (the waffle icon).
