The best way to reach me is through ClassDojo. I check messages regularly during the school day and will respond as soon as I am able.
You may also contact me by email at alyssa.bernardone@aps.edu or by calling the school office at (505) 296-5655 and leaving a message.
For transportation changes, please contact the office directly so the change is received before dismissal.
Thank you for partnering with me to support your child’s learning!
Students are encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes each night and record their reading in their reading log. In addition, students will receive a weekly homework packet to practice important skills learned in class.
Completed homework packets and reading logs earn classroom money and help students build responsibility and strong learning habits. Homework is expected each week unless otherwise communicated by the teacher.
Attendance matters! Being at school every day helps students build routines, friendships, and academic skills. If your child will be absent, please notify the office and provide documentation when applicable.
Students are welcome to bring a small birthday snack to share with the class. Please do not send birthday party invitations to me to pass out at school unless every student in the class is invited.
Our classroom focuses on being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. Students are expected to make positive choices and contribute to a supportive learning environment.
Students bring home a black daily folder each afternoon. Please check it nightly for classroom information, completed work, and important papers.
Lunch and breakfast is provided by APS, though students may bring their own lunch if preferred. Students may bring an individual snack to eat after morning recess.
Our classroom has everything students need to learn! Please leave toys, trading cards, stuffed animals, fidgets, and other personal items at home unless the teacher has requested them for a special activity. This helps prevent distractions and keeps special belongings safe. Thank you for your support!
Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle each day. Water bottles will be sent home weekly for cleaning.
Families are always welcome to support our classroom. Volunteers must complete APS volunteer requirements before participating in classroom or school activities.
Please follow Chelwood's arrival and dismissal procedures to help keep all students safe. Students should listen to staff and follow school safety expectations during arrival and dismissal.
Each student has access to a Chromebook during the school day to support learning. Devices remain at school.
