Class Information and Guidelines
Google Classroom: We will be using Google Classroom throughout the year. This is where students can see class announcements, assignments, due dates, etc.
Google Site: I will have a running Google Site so that parents/students can find class information. It is constantly being updated, so please make sure to check it out often.
Bell Ringers: At the beginning of each class period, you will complete an entry focusing on current events or the current curriculum. Periodic quizzes will be given covering the Bell Ringer information. These quizzes will be open note, so make sure you are completing your Bell Ringers every day!
Units: Curriculum content will be covered in units correlating to the Common Core and the State Standards. Assessments will be given at the end of each unit.
Projects/Lessons: Projects and lessons covering content and its relevance are assigned in each unit. Projects will be completed individually, with partners, or as a group. Major components of the lesson will be completed during the class time. Although, short homework assignments pertaining to the project or lesson, to practice a skill, or review the content will be implemented to support student understanding.
Assessments: Assessments will be given throughout a unit of study with a comprehensive assessment following the completion of a unit. Assessments can be in the form of tests, essays, activities, and projects.
Notes: As part of the class, we will take notes over the material. Comprehensive assessments will cover notes and the assigned chapter. Notes, the textbook, and assignments/activities may be used for assessments.
Homework: Students may have work to complete for each unit that include computer based practice, worksheets, readings, and other activities. All work must be shown in order to receive full credit.
Absent/Late Work: ALL absent or late work MUST be turned in, in a timely manner. Late work will only be accepted during the current unit. There may be a reduction in points if the work is not turned in on time. Once the unit has ended, late work pertaining to that unit will not be accepted. Students submitting work due to absence, will follow the district policy. You can find all the assignments in Google Classroom or on www.planbook.com .
