English Language Arts: Reading & Writing
Your child will be reading and writing daily. To encourage a love of reading and writing, I implement a balanced literacy approach and follow the 5th grade Common Core State Standards. We will use complex, authentic texts, both literature and informational. Your child will learn to write for different audiences and different purposes as they use the writing process to publish narratives, informational essays, and research-based opinion essays. Here's a few of the things your child will be learning.

I-Ready Math is the program used during our math block. This program is connected to the CCSS and follows a meaningful progression. Your child needs to know his/her math facts! It is imperative they know their facts to assist them with skills throughout the year.

In fifth grade we study:
