Curriculum

English Language Arts: Reading & Writing

We will be using the SAVVAS curriculum for reading and writing. The units of study are connected by common themes, specific comprehension strategies, and/or genres. 

Mathematics

This year we will be using the iReady math program as our main curriculum during our math block. This program is connected to the Common Core State Standards and follows a meaningful progression. I will also incorporate other activities to enrich and extend those lessons. You will receive a letter home before the beginning of every lesson of suggested activities to do at home. The suggested activities do not need to be turned in. They are an opportunity for more practice at home.

Social Studies

Some social studies themes we teach in fourth grade include: 

• New Mexico history

•  Government

• Economics 

Science

In fourth grade we use the Mystery Science curriculum. The units we cover include:

• Earth and Space science

• Life science

• Physical science
