French III & IV

French III and IV are intermediate classes designed to expand upon the language skills and knowledge students learned previously. The objective is to continue to develop students' conversational skills to become intermediate communicators. The study of people, history, geography, culture, and customs of francophone (French-speaking) countries will be integrated throughout the course.

As students acquire language, they become more proficient. They are able to accomplish more and more tasks, communication about more topics and make themselvees better understood. At the end of French II, students typically achieve an intermediate-mid to intermediate-high level on the ACTFL proficiency scale.

ACTFL PROFICIENCY LEVELS

Intermediate Mid (IM): AT this level, students can handle a wider range of topics and tasks. They can participate in discussions about both familiar and unfamiliar subjects, provide explanations, and narrate in different tenses. Their language usage becomes more flexible and nuanced, allowing them to express themselves with greater precision.

Intermediate High (IH): Students at this level can engage in more complex and abstract conversations. They can express opinions on various topics, support arguments with evidence and participate in discussions about cultural and global issues. Their ability to understand and create more intricate written texts, such as essays and reports, improves.
