How to make up classes to earn credit for graduation
How do credits work?
Most semester classes are worth .5 credits
Students must earn 25 credits to graduate and there are requirements as to how many need to be English, Math, Science, etc. (see page 12 of the Course Catalog for a full description).
Credits are granted with passing grades: A, B, C, or D. Credit is not granted for grades of F, I (incomplete), or W/F (withdrawal with the grade of F).
How many credits a student has determines the grade level that they are "classified" at.
To Be ClassifiedCredits Needed 9th Grade<6 10th Grade 6 11th Grade 13 12th Grade 19 Graduate 25
If a student is in their second year of high school, they may be taking 10th grade classes, but they will be classified as a 9th grader. This is referred to as a "reclassified student".
If you are reclassfied or behind on credits, don't panic! There are options to get back on track for graduation. Make an appointment with me to discuss your options.
