About Me

Hello. I’m Rebecca Wallace. I was born in Mobile, Alabama and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I graduated from Santa Fe High (Go Demons!). After high school and college, I moved to Albuquerque. My wonderful husband Matthew and I were married in 2006, and Ember, our Dalmatian, joined our family in 2008. Because we needed one more Dalmatian, Cinder joined our family in 2013. Our daughter Emily was born in 2016. The newest member of our family is our son Ewan who was born in 2019.

I received my Bachelor’s in English from New Mexico State University. I also attended New Mexico Highlands University and earned my Secondary Licensure and Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Reading.

I have eighteen years of teaching experience, and I still love my job! In 2006 I joined Cibola High School (Go Coogs!) where I taught English 10 Honors, English 10, and English 12. In 2018 I joined eCADEMY Virtual High School (Go Owls!). I work with eCADEMY's BlendEd Studio where we focus on inquiry-based learning. Students complete their core classes online and participate in face-to-face inquiry-based classes for their electives.

My professional interests center around motivating adolescents. I believe it is important to capture their attentions early on in the class. One way I do that is by incorporating young adult literature in my classroom. I foster a reading and writing culture in my classroom by being an adult model for them. I also provide opportunities for students to practice cooperative learning, critical thinking, and student responsibility. My goal is to help them be successful in the classroom and beyond.
