Homework and Reminders
This group of students has had a good start to the year in terms of responsibility and returning homework and the reading log on time. But, I would like to remind everyone that a parent signature is important in the planner once a week. This is done so that you know what is being expected of your child – math homework, reading log, permission slips. etc.
Please check with your child regularly to see if there is a quiz or spelling test that needs a signature and return it so that you child can receive a dojo point.
Language Arts
In our English Language Arts curriculum this month, the students will focus on informational text while reading and learning about animal/plant adaptations. We will be working on analyzing the main idea and determining important details. Another main objective is to recognize characteristics and structures of informational text including supporting evidence.
In our writing activities, the students are completing their narrative writing assignment, which provides them the opportunity to practice writing in the fiction area that develop real or imagined situations and use sequencing to write a complete story with characters, dialogue, and creativity. We will finish the month by writing in the non-fiction arena and focusing on research.
