"I finished my undergraduate degree here at Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. I am a first year M.S. Candidate for Clinical Exercise Physiology. After graduate school I plan to go onto Physician Assistant School and become a PA in a still undetermined field of medicine. For the last two years of my undergrad I worked with Dr. Marco Meucci researching effects of obesity on children and adolescent youth and how it correlates to increased risk of CVD, diabetes, hypertension, and other related diseases. As a certified Phlebotomist I volunteered some of my summer to the Community Care Clinic that provides free healthcare to the surrounding community for those without health insurance. I also volunteered at the Paul H. Broyhill Wellness Center for the AdFit summer camp where kids from age 11-13 with a BMI in the 85 th percentile could learn about health and fitness while having fun in the process. On that note I love spending time outdoors in the free time I have. I enjoy running with my roommates dog as well as going on hikes along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway."
