Six total credit hours are required. One credit hour is equal to 50 contact hours. These hours are typically taken in the last year. However, certain situations can be approved to allow for an internship to occur in the summer prior to the last year.
The field experience must consist of a minimum of two substantially different experiences that include two or more of the following categories: sport, gender, age range, or other, and under two different supervisors. The experiences do not have to be at two different sites. The minimum contact hours at a single site is 75, and the minimum length at a single site is 6 weeks.
Additional Internship Sites
Students are permitted to complete their internships at locations outside of App State, but must obtain approval from the Strength and Conditioning Field Experience Coordinator before commencing. Any new site that has not had an App State S&C student previously will be required to complete a memorandum of understanding (MOU) before any student is permitted to start.
