Interested in joining the lab?

The ASU Biology Department is an interdisciplinary group of faculty with diverse research interests that span the biological sciences from ecology and evolution, physiology, and cell and molecular biology.

Undergraduate Research

We accept outstanding students into the lab to gain experience in the evolution of novel adaptations and behaviors. Students can do research for credit in BIO4501 (Independent Research) or BIO4518 (Honors Research). We expect undergraduates to be self-motivated and active members of the lab, and we only accept students who are willing to commit at least a full year to research. Students will initially contribute to existing research projects and will have the opportunity to propose their own project after a semester. If you are interested in research, please contact Dr. Scott Chialvo by email at chialvoch@appstate.edu

Graduate Research

We welcome highly motivated students that are interested in questions related to novel adaptations as well as any of the projects listed on the Research page. Graduate students in the Biology Department can complete a Master's of Biology degree in one of three tracks. Research in our lab falls under the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology concentration. I am currently taking students as early as Spring 2020. Interested students are encourage to email Dr. Scott Chialvo and include their CV and research interests.

Postdoctoral Research

Please email Dr. Scott Chialvo to discuss opportunities and research interests.
