Put a lot of effort into making the most of his time here.
He joined the International Friendship program, building lasting relationships with a local family.
He joined Cultural Ambassadors, participating in professional development opportunities and also sharing his culture through presentations in classrooms.
He did the Appalachian Interchange Retreat with Sustained Dialogue, where students explored social justice and leadership through sharing stories.
He joined Community Fellows and connected with our Watauga County Community to fight hunger.
He represented his home university during our Education Abroad Fair.
During International Education week, he was a panelist on the Global Perspectives Panel hosted by INTAPP and he co-presented a German poem at the Department of Literature, Languages and Culture’s Language Out Loud event.
He worked on campus and even did a research project requiring interviews with other international students.

Satsuki Omuro
She represented on the Global Perspectives Panel hosted by INTAPP during international education week.
She shared her culture through describing games from home in one of the clubs that she joined.
She worked with Teach Assist to help teach beginner and an intermediate language classes, including offering special assistance to a student with a learning disability who was motivated by speaking with a native speaker of the target language
Every week, she joined the AppELS Institute’s English Conversation Table and is working with one of the AppELS instructors to make a video for future international students
She connected with a local family through the International Friendship Program, having extended conversations and various local experiences with them.
She worked on campus, building connections through the Dining Services.
She presented a comparison of American Sign Language and Japanese Sign Language during International Deaf Week.
