How Using Slave Practices Created the Faith Healing Revival
How Using Slave Practices Created the Faith Healing Revival
For my final semester at Appalachian State University, I was tasked in creating an independent study on the comparisons between slave conjures and the Healing Revival that took place soon after the end of World War Two in the United States. This study focused on the beliefs and practices of slave conjures and how evangelists that practiced during the post World War Two Healing Revival used similar tactics and belief systems. The following pages below will go over the histories of these important subjects, known historical figures during the Healing Revival, comparisons and contrasts between the two and examples of slave conjures and healing revival practices.
Unit Map
Along with this site going over specifics on the overall comparison of Slave Conjures and Evangelists participating in the Faith Healing Revival Era above, the bottom document goes over how this material was taught to a classroom. this subject should be able to taught within a week so each day will be allocated to each topic. The first day will consist of the history of Slave Conjures. The second day will consist of the history of the Faith Healing Revival Era. The third day will have the class looking at both subjects from a historical perspective with both negative and positive viewpoints of the subjects being used. The fourth day will have the students comparing and contrasting the information that has been given over the past few days about slave conjures and evangelists that participated in the Faith Healing Revival Era. By the end of the week, students should be able to compare and contrast the two subjects and write a paper arguing their opinion on whether they believe evangelists apart of the Faith Healing Revival Era used tactics created by slave conjures thus making them conjures themselves.
Please be aware sources that are used throughout my Independent Study can be researched further in my Bibliography page.
