As a teacher, I have a strong philosophy regarding assessment. Assessment should be used for student learning, not to assess student learning. My job as a teacher is to educate my students on historical reasoning, context, foundation, and events. To do this, I use assessment as a way for me to gauge my student's understanding of the many topics that we discuss in my class. These assessments will determine the pace and focus of my lessons and how my students are performing.

Below is a collection of assessments I have created for different social studies classes, such as American history and Civic Literacy.

Civic Literacy Curriculum-Based Assessment

This is a collection of different learning targets, objectives, and assessment samples to be used in a  Civic Literacy class for high school. This collection comprises formative assessments, summative assessments, and different learning goals for students to achieve.

American History Assessment Samples

This sample is a collection of different formative and summative assessments for an introduction unit for an American history course with a focus on Source Literacy and Colonial American history

Political Campaign Project

This project will have students collaborate with one another to develop their own political party and to create a media plan to use in their campaign. This project will have students develop on their historical thinking skills as well as their understanding of political concepts revolving around elections and political parties and the connections that both have with our media in America.
