Ready to share your work? The GWS Repository welcomes submissions from current and former Appalachian State University students who have completed coursework in Gender, Women's & Sexuality Studies.
We host four categories of student work:
Research Papers — Academic essays, research papers, literature reviews, and senior capstone projects
Creative Writing — Fiction, poetry, personal narrative, and creative nonfiction
Audio/Video Projects — Podcasts, audio essays, documentary video, and other media projects
Visual Art & Design — Photography, illustration, digital art, graphic design, and mixed media
Work created for a GWS course is welcome, as is independent work that engages meaningfully with gender, women's, and sexuality studies topics. Submissions should be polished and ready for public viewing.
All submissions are reviewed by GWS faculty and staff. We look for work that demonstrates:
Thoughtful engagement with GWS concepts and themes
Original analysis or creative expression
Academic rigor or artistic merit
Research Papers & Creative Writing: PDF preferred
Audio/Video Projects: Upload to Google Drive, YouTube, or an external platform and provide a link
Visual Art & Design: JPG, PNG, or PDF; or a Google Drive link for multi-image projects

Upload your file or provide a link to hosted content
Include a brief description of your work and any relevant tags (e.g., Gender Theory, Queer Studies, Intersectionality)
Indicate whether you'd like to be credited by name or listed as Anonymous
Your submission will be reviewed by GWS faculty and staff. You will receive an email confirmation once it's published
Please be patient with the reviewing process, as our committee is small.
You may choose to have your work listed as "Anonymous" rather than under your name. Indicate this preference in the submission form. Faculty and staff will still have access to your contact information for any follow-up questions.
