The GWS Repository is a digital archive showcasing outstanding student work from Appalachian State University’s Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies program. This platform celebrates the intellectual and creative contributions of GWS students while making their work accessible to a wider audience.
The repository features research papers, creative writing, audio/video projects, and other visual arts that explore topics including gender theory, queer studies, feminism, intersectionality, and social justice.
Current and former Gender, Women's & Sexuality Studies majors are invited to submit their work. This includes:
Research papers and academic essays
Creative writing (fiction, poetry, personal narratives)
Video and audio projects
Visual art and graphic design
Senior capstone projects
Independent study work
All submissions are reviewed by GWS faculty and staff before publication.
We publish work that demonstrates:
Thoughtful engagement with gender, women's, and sexuality studies concepts
Original analysis or creative expression
Academic rigor or artistic merit
Relevance to GWS themes and topics
Work should be polished and ready for public viewing. We accept pieces created for coursework as well as independent projects related to GWS topics.
