Project 1: 4 day mapping project (Dec 31-Jan 3)
4 day mapping project
focus on regional stratigraphy, geologic history
remote camping on undeveloped BLM land
Project 2: 3 day fault mechanics project (Jan 4-7)
mapping and structural measurements at different fault areas
focus on style and mechanics of faulting
camping in park at established campground - access to facilities - Furnace Creek Ranch
Geotourism: 2.5 days of touring eastern California - field notes required (Jan 7-9)

Saline Valley Hot Springs
Ubehebe Crater
Mammoth Lakes and Sierra Nevada - Bishop Tuff
Ridgecresst Earthquake fault scarps
Beatty, NV and Nevada Test Site outskirts
January 10th Return to Las Vegas (option to fly home that day or stay in LV)
January 11th Fly home and be ready for start of classes Jan 12
There will be about 5 days of camping in an established campground and 5 days of camping in unestablished campgrounds - we will spend the final night in Las Vegas before folks fly home.
During Spring Semester: Meetings on Mondays 12-3 pm (as needed - time flexible)
January 12th - Recap of field work - discussion of final deliverables- upload videos on map digitization
January 26th - Python codes and adobe illustrator to create figures - answer questions and work on final maps together, discuss Mohr plotter
February 2nd - Student presentations - Final Maps Project 1
February 9th - Student presentations - Fault Mechanics Project 2
February 16th- Final projects and reports due and end of course - no meeting required.
