Hey! I'm Madeleine and I'm from Raleigh, NC. I am a senior in Exercise Science at App state and am planning to go to PA school. I am interested in studying the impacts of exercise in special populations.
Kimberly (Kym) Fasczewski, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science and serves as the Graduate Program Director for the MS in Exercise Science Program at Appalachian State University. She directs the Human Behavior in Physical Activity Laboratory where her research focuses on behavioral motivation for physical activity. Dr Fasczewski’s research primarily revolves around increasing beneficial physical activity behaviors in individuals diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and other chronic diseases, and understanding the resulting impacts to long-term quality of life. She completed her M.S. at The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga in Research Psychology and her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport and Exercise Psychology. She also holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies and a Doctoral Minor in Educational Research Methodology. Kym currently teaches Data Analysis in Sport and Exercise Science, Research Methods in Exercise Science, Introduction to Sport Psychology in Applied Practice, and Psychological Aspects of Exercise Science. Kym is a former professional mountain bike racer, and is now an avid cyclist, hiker, and adventurer. She spends her free time in the mountains with her husband and her two rescue dogs, Kacey and Wilson.
