★ Join the AppState BioBlitz Project page so that your observations get automatically added to our project.
★ Look over the checklist of species that have been found in Watauga County in October. There are at least 787 potential species for you to observe!
Shout out to Will Bennett, AppState Geography graduate and iNaturalist power user, for compiling this list.
★ Use the maps to stay within our project boundaries so your observations count for the competition.
★ Take and upload more than one photo for each observation (eg. for a tree you observe- upload photos of the buds, leaves, bark). This helps with identification later.
★ Don't limit yourself to diurnal creatures, grab a flashlight and see what you can find at night!
★ Roadkill counts!
★ Look carefully at trees for insects and other small critters, and also in the corners of buildings and window sills.
