Observations must be done within AppState boundaries to count towards the Campus BioBlitz competition. This includes the main campus, the Hickory campus and locations around Watauga County that are not in town. See the maps below for some ideas of where to go.
Did you know that AppState has its own Nature Preserve? 67 Acres of protected Woodlands right in the heart of the Boone campus!
The Nature Preserve is a great location to go for the BioBlitz because all the species there are going to be "non-cultivated" and count towards our species log.
Look out for insects, wildflowers, lichens and other fungi, mosses, etc.
More about Appalachian State University's Nature Preserve in the Department of Biology's website.
