App State BioBlitz
FALL 2023 (Sept. 25th- Oct. 1st)
NEW: BioBlitz get together at the Dark Sky Observatory! Saturday September 30th from 1-4pm. Everyone welcome, come help make observations and post on iNaturalist. Student-led guided walk around the property at 1:00pm. Directions to DSO here.
What is a BioBlitz?
A BioBlitz is a collaborative event with the goal of finding and identifying as many different species of plants, animals and fungi as possible in a given area over a specific period of time. Usually observations are added to an App or website. Bioblitzes are citizen science projects open to anyone. Check out the results from our SPRING 2023 & FALL 2022 BIOBLITZES!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
(EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!)
Make a free account in iNaturalist if you don't have one already (preferable using your AppState email)
Join the AppState BioBlitz Project at: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/appstate-bioblitz-fall-2023
Watch a video tutorial on how to use iNaturalist and how to add observations to a project, or come to one of the trainings.
During the week of SEPT. 25th - OCT. 1st, upload as many observations as possible to the project around AppState properties. The more variety of species the better to count towards our biodiversity challenge.
Check often for updates on how we are doing.
There will be PRIZES for most species identified and more!
Check the Maps section for larger maps and driving directions
Join the Project on iNaturalist to Get Updates
Even though you do no need to be a member of the AppState BioBlitz Fall 2023 Project Page on iNaturalist to add your observations and help the AppState team, joining the page will help you stay up to date with the project progress, how we're doing, tips, answers to questions, etc.
Trainings & Video Tutorials
UNG also made this great video tutorial on how to add observations to their project, same steps for ours, just make sure you join "AppState BioBlitz Fall 2023" and not our opponents'!
