Applied Exercise Physiology Program Goal and Objectives
The goal of the Applied Exercise Physiology Concentration is to prepare competent entry-level exercise science professionals in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. The attainment of the overall goal is determined by the degree to which the following individual program goals are met:
Program Goal 1: Graduates of the program will obtain knowledge and comprehension in the area of exercise science/kinesiology. Along with demonstrating broad content knowledge and comprehension, graduates will demonstrate knowledge and comprehension in the specific areas of health and fitness assessment, exercise prescription, counseling and behavioral strategies, and legal/professional issues and management.
Program Goal 2: Graduates of the program will be able to apply their kinesiology-related knowledge in a professional setting. Graduates will have demonstrated, in a professional internship setting, the ability to apply their kinesiology-related knowledge and skills while demonstrating professionalism, initiative, dependability, and interpersonal skills.
Program Goal 3: Program completers will be able to communicate effectively about their kinesiology-related knowledge in both written and verbal form.
