Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA)

Use ANCOVA when you have both categorical and continuous predictor variables and you want to see their joint and combined impact on a continuous outcome variable.

ANCOVA allows you to either examine the relationship between categorical predictor(s) while controlling for continuous predictor variable(s) or examine the relationship between continuous predictor(s) while controlling for categorical predictor variable(s). Essentially, ANCOVA combines ANOVA and linear regression and does much the same thing as dummie coding categorical variables in a regression analysis.

ANCOVA also lets you look at interactions between the categorical and continuous predictor variables.
