Opportunities for Undergraduates
We are always excited to welcome undergraduates to the lab! If you are interested in joining the lab please contact Ashley (adamsea1 [at] appstate [dot] edu) with a brief description of your research interests. Check out our “people” and “research” pages to get a sense of ongoing projects and what current undergrads are doing. We tend to have undergraduates start with us at the beginning of each semester, and will post opportunities here for any specific opportunities for undergrad assistants on lab projects.
Opportunities range from participating in others’ research to gain experience to eventually conducting your own independent project. We especially encourage getting involved in the lab early in your college career! We supervise a couple of senior capstones or honors theses each year, and prioritize students who have previously worked with us. Current and past undergrads have been very successful in obtaining funding for their research through OSR research grants.
In spring 2026, we will be hiring for two undergraduate positions:
STEPS Research Trainee
Soil Health Research and Administrative Assistant
Opportunities for Graduate Students
The Adams lab admits masters students through App State's Biology program. If you are interested in joining the lab as a graduate student, contact Ashley with a description of your interests and a CV. We will also post specific opportunities here as they are available.
We are currently seeking an MS Student for Fall 2026 to study impacts of compost amendments on microarthropod communities!
