I have been teaching 5th grade for the past 19 years and this is my sixth year at Peninsula. I spent two years teaching at Skyline and the ten years before that teaching at a school in Chicago, IL, called Lincoln Elementary. I grew up in Seattle, Washington and attended Lewis & Clark College here in Portland. At Lewis & Clark I studied science (biology) and music. It was at Lewis & Clark where I met my wife, Megan, who was also studying science.
After graduating, I went back to school at Portland State University to become a teacher. While living in Portland I also spent a lot of time riding my bike, hiking, camping and playing in a band.
After finishing at PSU we packed up and moved to Chicago, IL, so that Megan could study theater and she has since worked as a professional actor. Around eight years ago, we welcomed our first baby, Clio, and a few years later we welcomed Hilde to the world. When Clio was about 18 months old, we decided to move back to the Northwest and have been enjoying access to family, friends and the outdoors ever since.
In my spare time I love to read, ride my bike, watch movies and I love to teach myself new things.
It is going to be a challenging and exciting year and I am glad I have you along with me for this new adventure.
