Oregon Kindergarten Assessment

What is the OKA?

The Oregon Kindergarten Assessment is a state-wide assessment and required by Oregon law. It is administered to all incoming Kindergartners. The assessment is designed to take a snapshot of what incoming Kindergartners know prior to Kindergarten instruction.

The assessment is composed of the following three measures: Early Literacy, Early Math, and The Approaches to Learning. The Early Literacy and Early Math are direct, paper pencil assessments. The Approaches to Learning (A2L) is a teacher observation form.

The first segment, Early Literacy and Math MUST be administered within the first three weeks of school. The A2L is to be completed after the 3^rd week and before the 6^th week of school.

The OKA testing window is 6 weeks.
