The first week of school, along with discussing rules and expectations, fourth grade students practiced their teamwork and creative thinking skills. They competed with other groups to see who could fit the most paperclips on top of an upside-down cup. Check out some of our ideas below!
We recently watched a video regarding pollution - specifically plastic pollution that makes its way to our oceans. We wanted to raise awareness about such an intense problem that we face. To review and brush up on our Google skills, fourth grade students created digital posters to help inform about how we can help stop plastic pollution in our oceans, even from many miles away!
The second portion of our ocean cleanup project involved engaging students in the design process! The problem is our oceans are being actively polluted by trash and microplastics. How can we design and invent something to help cleanup these pollutants? Students collaborated to come up with a unique, creative idea to solve this problem. They designed. They planned. They built. They tested. They failed. They tried again! Take a look at our ocean debris cleaners below.
We learned about conditional formatting (If ______, then _____.) and Google Sheets! You can combine these ideas to create something called pixel art. Take a look at our creative thinking and pixel art skills below.
We recently tapped into our empathy and did some thinking about our furry friends! The problem is: How can we decrease stress and anxiety for animals and caregivers when they visit the vet's office? Students brainstormed with a team, came up with a plan, and created these incredible design plans using our Google Slides knowledge and technology. We also discussed how people in real-life careers use the same design process to solve problems in their jobs and lives everyday!
