A Master Teacher goes ABOVE and BEYOND what all skilled, strong teachers do.

Can I turn in my Master Teacher Portfolio late?

Unfortunately, you may not turn it in late. 

Is it Ok to work with a peer?

Yes.Partner up for support. Each applicant develops a portfolio but having someone to review and discuss ideas is helpful. 

Is my Evidence strong?

Just having submitted a piece of evidence is not good enough.

As a 1st time Applicant, how much EVIDENCE should I have?

Having 2 pieces of evidence per criterion helps strengthen the criteria requirements.

Referring to EVIDENCE in the NARRATIVE.

Clearly label evidence and refer to the label in the narrative.

Is OTES EVIDENCE?

OTES is NOT necessarily the best form of evidence.

How do I know if my portfolio was received?

An email will be sent once you submit your portfolio. 

If electronic submission - save the form submission receipt

If hand delivered - An email will be sent confirming it has been received.

When will I learn I have meet the Master Teacher requirements?

The goal is for the Master Teacher Committee to evaluate the portfolios by the end of March/Early April. The Committee Chair will keep you apprised as much as possible.

You will be contacted via email on your portfolio.

Who else knows my Master Teacher status?

Once you have MET the Master Teacher requirements, your Superintendent and Curriculum Director will be sent a letter from SCESC stating you have been designated a Master Teacher

Only YOU will be notified if you did NOT MET the Master Teacher requirements.

I am have been Designated a Master Teacher, now what?

Once you have MET the Master Teacher requirements, you will receive a Verification form the SCESC Master Teacher Committee. It is you responsibility to submit the form to the state to earn a Senior Professional Educator License.

How long is my Master Teacher Designation?

5 years from date of portfolio evaluation

Can I renew my Designation early?

Yes, you can renew 1 yr prior to expiration.

What happens if I do not meet the Master Teacher Requirements?

You would need to wait unit the following year to re-apply.
