Welcome back, Panthers!

This past Thursday, students from C. E. King High School's Criminal Justice program had the unique opportunity to visit the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory in Houston. This open-house experience was centered around the intricate science behind forensic investigations, providing students with a firsthand look at how forensic testing services, including biological evidence and DNA analysis, are conducted.

During their visit, students engaged with Texas DPS forensic scientists from the Biology/DNA section. They learned about the scientific principles involved in examining evidence to identify potential sources of DNA. The forensic scientists demonstrated how submitted evidence is screened to pinpoint possible DNA sources and develop DNA profiles for forensic comparison.

The experience offered students a profound connection between criminal justice, forensic science, and scientific analysis. It expanded their understanding of the pivotal role that evidence plays in the investigative process.
