GCSE Economics or Business Studies at grade 4 or BTEC Level 2 Business or ICT at Merit. In addition, students must have GCSE Maths grade 4.
In exceptional circumstances, students who have not previously studied these subjects may be admitted if they show a particular aptitude and enthusiasm for the subject.
The National Extended Certificate in Business is a qualification which allows you to gain a thorough understanding of activities relating to business operations and organisation.
It is equivalent to one A Level.
Four modules of which three are compulsory and one is an optional unit.
‘Exploring Business’ is a compulsory and ‘Recruitment & Selection Process’ is an optional unit. Both units will be internally assessed.
‘Developing a Marketing Campaign’ and ‘Personal & Business Finance’ are compulsory units and are externally assessed.
Developing a Marketing Campaign is a task set and marked externally and completed under supervised conditions.
Personal & Business Finance is written examination and is set and assessed externally.
For ‘Developing a Marketing Campaign ‘ unit, the learners will be provided with a case study two weeks before a supervised assessment period in order to carry out research. The supervised assessment period is a maximum of three hours and can be arranged over a number of sessions in a period timetabled by external examination body and produced as a written submission.
On completion of this course you will be suited to progress to study for a degree in Business Studies or a business related degree or training or employment.
You will have the opportunity to visit local business organisations.
