What is Fine Motor?
Fine Motor movements are the coordination of small muscles (i.e. hand muscles) in movement in sync with hands fingers and eye involvement
Why is it important?
Fine motor skills help develop important tasks children need to perform everyday activities such as self-feeding (manipulation of fork spoon and knives), dressing (manipulation of buttons, zippers, hair accessories), hygiene (manipulation of toothbrush, floss), reaching and grasping toys, writing, drawing, and more. These are skills that children will develop and will continue to improve through their developmental milestones.
