What does it mean to be a member of NHS?
NHS Membership in the local chapter is an honor bestowed upon a student.
Selection for membership is by a Faculty Council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.

New Member Requirements
All National Honor Society members have to be inducted into the North Creek Chapter. On February 18th, 2022, applications will be due for those who wish to join for the 2022-2023 school year. This can be freshman (Junior Honor Society does not count), sophomores, or juniors. No seniors can apply as applications this year are for membership for the following academic year.
REQUIREMENTS:
have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average
have completed at least 15 hours of community service in the current school year (documented on the New Member Packet)
have completed all components of the "New Member Application" on Schoology under "Discussions" by February 18th, 2022 by 3:00 PM to folder on Google Drive (instructions on Schoology). NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Returning Member Requirements- Please note that failure to complete the following requirements is an automatic dismissal from our chapter without the opportunity to reapply.

have completed at least 30 hours of community service by April 8th, 2022 by 4pm
have participated in group projects organized by your NHS officers
Please track hours on tracking form that is in our Schoology group.
All applicants and returning members must pay $15 club due to Mrs. Waligorski
What counts for community service hours?
What counts for community service hours?
As long as the act of service does NOT include any of the things below, it is acceptable:
Donating funds
Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
Religious instruction
Conducting worship service
Proselytizing
Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
Serving only family members
Volunteering for a non-profit organization in the community, such as a food bank, homeless pet shelter, tutoring at the library (not for profit), etc.
Relay for Life is counted for 10 hours out of your total
Volunteering for religious activities does not count for hours
Example: If your church goes to a food bank to volunteer, those hours will count. If you are volunteering at "Bible School," those hours will not count.
