I am a Beverly Cleary fan, so when my family went to Portland, Oregon, I excitedly found some of her famous places, including Beverly Cleary Elementary School.
I knew from the time I was in first grade and saw my teacher write on the chalkboard (wow!) that I wanted to be a teacher, and through the years that ambition to teach has stayed with me.
After teaching multiple grades in Lake Washington School District in the late 1990's, I stayed at home with my children during their early years. In that time I worked as a private tutor and then as a substitute teacher K-6, until I happily took the leap back into the classroom full-time.
I started teaching 3rd grade at Fernwood in fall of 2016. I feel grateful for all that has led me to this point and excited for what awaits with each new school year!
My family and I have lived in the Bothell area since 2004. Having been both a Fernwood parent and now a member of the Fernwood staff, I approach my teaching practice from both points of view. When I'm not in the classroom, I also enjoy reading, gardening, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
