Our goal is to develop a program that promotes healthy bodies and positive attitudes towards LIFETIME physical activity, by developing the foundational motor and fitness skills. Each student will be empowered with the knowledge and skills necessary to make responsible lifestyle choices that will directly impact his/her physical well-being. Twice a week students will be exposed to each of the five health-related components of fitness to live an active lifestyle: flexibility, muscular strength, cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, and body composition. Through a variety of units throughout the year, students will also be working on improving their agility, balance, coordination, power, reaction time, and speed, which are essential skills to developing an active lifestyle. In addition to this, intermediate students will participate in fitness testing to monitor their progress and set goals.
HOW CAN I PREPARE MY CHILD TO PARTICIPATE ON THEIR PE DAY?
Shoes!! If you send your child with lace up shoes, they should know how to tie their own shoes!
Our classes are high energy and rigorous, so students are expected to wear the proper clothing and shoes on their PE days. Please review your child's daily schedule for PE and make sure they are dressed appropriately on those days. Shoes are our biggest concern for active safe participation. We recommend good tennis shoes of any kind. Avoid boots, sandals and open toe flip flops. Students may borrow our extra shoes, and in extreme cases, may not be allowed to participate if not dressed appropriately in the future. Feel free to send tennis shoes for them to change into during days of inclement weather or special events. If your child’s participation needs to be modified for a medical reason, please send a note in to let us know.

Mr. Hyppa was the type of student no teacher wanted to have because of his hyperactive personality. He decided to then follow in his parents footsteps to become a teacher and make school fun for those students who need to move. He become a PE teacher, and brings his lively energy to the gym to instill in students a love of physical education.
