Important Information for the WEEK of 3/18-3/23.

We have a HOME MEET this week against BOTHELL on THURSDAY.

Javelin at 3:30pm and all other events begin at 4pm. MEET SCHEDULE LINKED HERE.

PLEASE VOLUNTEER to help officiate at the meet. We ask that each family volunteers for at least 2 responsibilities each season. Volunteering at home meets provides you with a front seat to all the action! Coaches will be assisting and can offer you guidance as needed. You can also read over event specific rules HERE.

It is a big undertaking to provide 300 athletes competitions in 2-4 events each! We NEED your help! It truthfully takes a village. 40 volunteers are required to run a Track meet. Please help us provide our athletes with a quality experience. Volunteers can check in at the gated entrance to the Track nearest to the Track Shed between 3:30-3:40pm.

Sign up to help at 2 of our home meets by selecting the sign up links to follow:

Thursday March 21, 2024

Saturday we will be traveling to Wenatchee for the Ray Cockrum Relays. We will be bringing 3 athletes in each event. Coaches will be communicating with athletes that we would like to bring tomorrow. Some entries may not be finalized until we look at results from Thursday's meet. Athlete's attending should plan on being at North Creek at 7am on Sat. On our return we will be stopping by the Red Arrow in Cle Elum for a team meal sponsored by Boosters. Athletes should still bring snacks, water and a dry change of cloths for the ride home. Our return to NC should be around 7:30pm. Track meets are on a rolling schedule, so times are always tentative.

Thank you for supporting our Jaguars in the great sport of Track and Field!

The team would be grateful if each family could consider sharing a $150 boosters team fee or raise your fee by sharing our 99 Pledges fundraiser with friends and family! If you are unable to cover the Boosters team fee, please let me know I will have boosters sponsor your athlete for the special gear and events provided by boosters. Any donation of $150 or higher will receive a custom Jaguar Duffle Bag! Track athletes and coaches appreciate your support. New starting blocks, team tents, javelins and uniforms are at the top of our boosters equipment wish list!

Thanks again for all the ongoing support.

Go Jags!!!

Hey Jags!

The Next Level || 2022 Sprint Motivation || Track & Field Hype || Ascend || Aaron Kingsley Brown

There’s a level that very few have been able to reach in the world of sports - and I have the audacity to chase after it. So many athletes are talented, but going from to good to greatness takes more than just talent. I've watched the greats before me and studied what makes them different, learning how I can take what they did and apply it to ...

www.youtube.com

Aaron Kingsley Brown speaks to the importance of embracing the process necessary to gain the mental fortitude for success. Track athletes are all about the PB! JAG athletes will have to reconsider seemingly simple movement patterns for running, jumping and throwing, to discover new capabilities within themselves while taking down new Personal Best. Our coaching staff prioritizes the process through thoughtful training progressions and drills focused on improving efficient movement patterns. Track is the sport of pure athleticism. We will challenge athletes to jump, throw and run at their highest potential.

Please note the placement of logo on the hat is incorrect, it will be stitched and centered of the front. The large logo will also have some green accents, similar to the jag head design.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to the NC Track Boosters.

This is the best value I have seen for a true waterproof jacket. I recommend getting this or other rain gear. Meet days are long and it gets chilly out there!

The shop will remain open until Thursday March 9th at 12pm.

Happy Shopping,

-Week One- Uniforms- Sat. Practice -

Wow! What a great start to our season!

Jag Coaches have been reeling about the potential this team has shown. Athletes, we are really impressed with the effort, energy and purpose you have been bringing to our training sessions.

I am excited for you to take a deeper dive into event specific training in the coming days and weeks! Be thinking about which event area will be your primary focus. You may also do a secondary event but will need to have a discussion with coaches about a plan for your time. If you are interested in a trying a 3rd event area plan to have a talk with me. We will talk more on this at practice.

Parents and Athletes, please sign and return the following 3 team policies ON Monday in order to receive your team issued uniform. Hard copies of forms will be in the shed this Thurs & Fri. Students will also need to pay the NSD "pay to play" sport participation fee in touch-base or with Mrs. Waligorski the NC bookkeeper(main office). 3 sport athletes do not owe a fee.

Please review these documents together and sign for return ON Monday 3/6.

Saturday Practice is mandatory for Varsity. Saturday Practices will be on 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 4/29, 5/6. Event coaches may invite additional teammates to attend on some Saturdays. There is an optional JV Circuit, it is a fun team vs. team circuit! The circuit will be challenging, but is designed to provide athletes with additional recovery.

Saturday 3/11 and 3/18 we will have our team pancake brunch. This is an athlete run brunch. Donations of pancake mix, syrup, toppings, juice, and fruit are helpful. I think we have enough plates and forks from last season 🙂

-Week 1 Preparation Email-

Hello Jaguar Families,

The 2023 season starts this Monday the 27th! Jaguar event coaches and I are all so excited to see our athletes and help them each discover new personal strengths! This will surely be NC Track and Field's best year yet!

The weather is not looking great for week one, please dress accordingly. We are outside rain or shine. We will not cancel practice or meets for rainy weather. Athletes are required to wear sweat top and bottoms everyday, additionally rain gear will make the experience much more enjoyable for athletes. We will have a waterproof jacket available for purchase in our team shop, shared out on Monday. The custom team shop will be open for 10 days and then will take another 10-14 days before we receive custom NC Track gear. Be sure to have the essentials for day one; sweat top and bottom, active shoes, and water bottle (rain gear recommended).

Locker room access will be available before practice only. Locker room access is limited to 3:20-3:35pm, after 3:35pm no Track athletes will be permitted back into lockers for that day. Personal belongings can be stored under the bleachers, or by hanging on the fence. Bringing a garbage bag for your things, is a good idea!

Monday and Friday this week we will meet in the commons. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we will meet on the Track; do not enter the Track until you have checked in for attendance. Athletes will receive a QR code for daily attendance check in and check out. They need to keep QR code for daily use.

Parents, each night attendance will be transferred over to final forms and you will receive notice if your athlete did not attend practice. If you are interested in knowing what time your athlete checked in or out, please reach out to me via email. We will discuss attendance expectations in more detail at our parent meeting on March 7th at 6:30pm in the commons.

Athletes cannot actively participate in practice until their name appears green in final forms. Athletes and Parents must sign forms, upload student medical documents, including an athletic physical prior to active participation. Students that are not cleared for participation, should still attend daily team meetings during the 1st week in order to learn of team systems and expectations. For registration questions or help, please contact NC athletics secretary Susan Pearson at spearson@nsd.org.

It is essential students check in and out daily for attendance credit needed to be eligible to compete in meets. Students need to arrive to practice daily by 3:35pm for attendance check in.

Practice will end at 6pm during week 1.

Practice will end between 5:45-6:15pm during week 2 and beyond per event coach discretion.

Varsity plan for Saturday AM practices in March.

Check out the team website for recent communications, important updates and useful links.

WELCOME email from head coach Nicole Luckenbach (nluckenbach@nsd.org), sent to athletes and parents on February 24, 2022

Hello Jaguars!!!

Welcome to the start of a great season!

2022 has the making to be a season of new accomplishments and new traditions to carry us forward for years to come.

Please read though this email in its entirety. I intend for this to be my only long email communication of the season and will be moving to house all pertinent information on our team website with brief reminders as needed.

The 1st week of practice is structured differently than a typical training week to help establish routines, learn modalities, and build team unity. Week 2 looks like a more traditional training week. By week 3 we should become an efficient machine, with everyone settled into a primary and secondary event and athletes' bodies starting to adjust to Track training loads.

Some soreness is expected during the 1st couple weeks. Please help our coaches as they begin to build strong student relationships, by encouraging student-athletes to communicate any soreness lasting 3 or more days or at the onset of any instant pain. And always, always, drink more WATER.

Our 1st practice is on Monday Feb. 28th at 4:00pm. 4:00pm is our start time; however, athletes must arrive 15-20 minutes early to check during week 1. Starting in week 2, a 3:50pm arrival will allow for everyone to be checked in on time. Student arrivals at 4:00 are considered late, they need to be checked in for attendance BY 4:00pm.

From the 28th-March 1st, we will be meeting in the Commons for a welcome meeting before heading out to the Track. STUDENTS please enter through the main doors from the courtyard and check in for attendance at one of the tri-pods. Student-athletes will then be guided to join a senior captains group while everyone is getting settled.

Practice times will always end by 6:30 depending on event coach discretion. Practice could be over as early as 5:30 during a typical week. Each athlete's event coach will share more as we start a typical training week during week 2. Week one, expect practice to go until 6:30pm.

Lockers are available for in season athletes. Please ask your PE teacher for a locker if needed. There will be NO locker access after practice. Athletes can store personal belongings under the bleachers, hanging on the outside of Track fence, or in personal vehicles during practice.

Always arrive wearing active attire including full length sweat or waterproof top and bottom, in addition to running-training shoes. Event specific shoes are recommended for personal purchase and will be discussed by individual event coaches in week 2.

Please bring a labeled and full personal water bottle to every practice.

No personal devices during training sessions. Running, jumping, throwing with phones in pockets is an easy way to break them. Leave them in back packs please.

Plan on Saturday AM practices in March and some invitational travel on Saturdays in April (individual athletes must qualify for invitationals). Athletes hoping to compete at invitationals will need to be local for the 2nd half of spring break (practice and possible travel meet to Pasco).

Uniform Check Out will be Monday Feb. 7th after practice for seniors and juniors. Sophomores and freshmen will check out uniforms Tuesday Feb. 8th before practice at 3:15pm. In order to be issued a loaner uniform, athletes must have their spring ASB sport fee paid and bring a signed copy of both the team principles of peak performance and attendance policy to uniform check out. Parent Volunteers are need to assist with Uniform Check out. Please email Coach Stride if you are available 1 or both days. Rstride@nsd.org.

Team Photo and individual head shots will be at 4:00pm on Wednesday Feb. 9th. Purchasing photos is optional. Everyone will need to come dressed in the warm up top and bottom with a purple shirt for the team photo (for yearbook and school postings).

Stay current on your students Track and Field performances, learn details of upcoming meets and compare performance standings across the league, state and nation on ATHLETIC.NET. Athletic.net is a website server that is used to manage meets and track performances in all high school programs nationally. Our meet schedule is nearly accurate. There is an additional league meet on Thursday April 28th at Woodinville. The Pasco invitational is pending overnight travel approval due to Covid restrictions on district travel.

Show your Jaguar pride with custom team gear available for purchase here: https://kocreators.com/northcreektrack

If your family is experiencing financial hardship, please let me know so I can work with boosters to support you in having a Track clothing article to keep.

Our Jaguars Boosters is a parent run organization that provides enrichment opportunities for all North Creek clubs and activities. Their work is pivotal in providing a rewarding experience to our athletes. This year we are looking for boosters to support our team with travel expenses, team meals, senior gifts, banquet awards and our end of season celebration. In the past boosters has additionally purchased athlete of the week shirts, timing system software, coaches trainings, along with supporting other immediate needs as they arise.

Please plan to support your students positive experience in Track by providing a team fee of $100. The team fee includes a custom pair of team sunglasses and shoe-string bag for practice/meet gear. Pay team fee here.

Families unable to provide the team fee can be sponsored by Boosters. Please reach out if there is a need for financial assistance.

The annual Boosters Fundraising Auction is fast approaching as well. A portion of ticket purchases and Track provided auction items will be credited to our team account.

Help us support all the amazing things Jaguar Boosters offers our community by donating an item or experience for the live auction. Check in with your workplace or other corporate connections about donating event tickets(seahawks, mariners, storm, theater, escape room, etc..), weekend retreats, corporate packages(services from the place of business; such as a free hair cut, or dinner for 2). The possibilities are endless. . You can also make a cash donation for Auction items here.

Experience donations need to be accompanied by the attached procurement form.

We will also be building a beach day themed basket and a game night themed basket. Any item donation (beach toys, beach blanket, water balloons, sun-brella, board games, non perishable snacks, fancy timer, silly hats, etc..) can be brought to practice and a parent volunteer will assemble the baskets for Auction.

Please purchase tickets for the event here.

Our Track and Field team supports over 130 student-athletes and will require community support to be successful. Please plan to support the team with the $100 team fee, an Auction donation and volunteer time at two home meets.

Supporting 22 events for both a men's and women's team truly requires a community effort. Please plan to support our team by volunteering to help run an event at 2 or more home meets (3/30, 4/20, 5/6) or to take on a volunteer role. More details to be shared in the coming weeks.

Mark your calendars for a Track parent meeting after practice on Tuesday March 22nd at 6:45pm. We will be meeting in the Track Shed - dress warm! Please also plan to join the NC athletics spring sports zoom meeting with Athletic Director, Melton Jefferson in March

As questions arise please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email. I am also happy to discuss matters over the phone upon request. I am here to ensure each athlete is supported and has ample opportunity to succeed! Please share your concerns and/or coaches compliments with me as desired.

Attendance notifications should be sent to both - Rikki Stride and Myself (rstride@nsd.org, nluckenbach@nsd.org). Please review our attendance policy for more information here.

Check out our team values here.

You are welcome and encouraged to reach out to your students event coach directly about training design, meet day guidance or specialized gear questions.
