Our coaches and mentors are dedicated to guiding us, offering valuable insights, and helping us develop the skills needed to succeed. They support our growth not only as a team but also as a community, instilling us the values of hard work, perseverance, and collaboration...
Mrs. Katrina has been the FTC coach for Colony High School for over two years now. But both of her children have been involved in the STEAM Community much longer than that! Mrs. Katrina strives to improve the knowledge of each member of our team. Even more than that she works above and beyond to make sure that robotics is a fun learning environment.
Joshua Nilson is our community mentor, he is a member of our community that specializes in all things mechanical. He works as a mechanic at Caterpillar, he's worked in the industry for over 27 years! He's graciously guided us when it comes to our engineering process. Helping us with the most technical problems we have encountered with our robot and the process of it's creation.
Both of our mentors have the same goal when it comes to the question, "Why mentor a high school FTC team?" As both of these people have been involved within the STEAM community at some point in their lives they both understand the extreme changes that our society today has endured. As technology grows more and more advanced with each day we young people need to be able to understand it as the changes happen. This way we'll be able to be active and knowledgeable within our community. What better way to help young minds grow than to submerge yourself at the source of their learning?
