How hard 7th grade really is...
Welcome to middle school!
Every year, I hear from incoming sixth graders about how they've heard how tough 7th grade is. Well, here's a secret - lean in close -
it's NOT that hard.
When older students say 7th grade is hard, what they really mean is 7th grade is the first time they connect their choices - study or not to study - with the grades they earn.
They learn that managing time is actually an important skill. And there are consequences when time isn't managed properly.
They learn that being organized is also important...and yup, there are consequences to being a total slob.
They learn that working SMARTER AND NOT HARDER doesn't mean ignoring assignments and expecting to succeed.
They learn that just showing up is step 1, and that more is required of a middle school student.
They learn that school is getting harder the older they get, and that's not stopping anytime soon.
They learn that practice really IS required in academics - just like it is in sports, music and any other skill they want to learn.
So buckle up, buttercup! Get your helmet on and be ready to get in the game!
