I love teaching Interpersonal Communications! We will spend the semester learning about the world of relationships and why they can be so complicated. I hope you will learn more about the way you communicate with family, friends, and other people you interact with. We will spend time exploring who you are and how we see ourselves within our communities. We will create a safe place for all students as we celebrate our differences and similarities. By the end of the course, I hope that you have a better understanding of relationships and how communication impacts our connection to others.
A Welcome Letter was sent out two weeks prior to the start of the semester. If you missed that email or added the class late please make sure to read it: 16-week welcome letter or the 8-week welcome letter.

I love to travel! My favorite places to visit are usually found within our National Park system and I have visited more than 200 of them. When I am not traveling, I love to go hiking or enjoy the outdoors. Most of my adventures are fueled by my love for cultural studies as it relates to communication. When I am out traveling, I am always looking for ways to bring what I have learned into my courses. I currently teach public speaking, interpersonal, intercultural, mass media, group, oral interpretation, and communication experience.
I am a product of our California Community College system, earning an AA from Merced College. Then I went on to earn my BA in Organizational Communication from CSU-Stanislaus and an MA in Communication from CSU-Northridge. I have a long-standing interest in pedagogy, especially related to teaching with technology and curriculum development, and I have parlayed that interest into two additional graduate degrees: an MA in Education from Fresno Pacific University and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Alliant International University.
Educational Background:
Ed.D - Educational Leadership from Alliant International University
MA - Curriculum and Teaching from Fresno Pacific University
MA - Communications from CSU, Northridge
BA - Organizational Communications from CSU, Stanislaus
Our preferred communication method is the Canvas Conversations tool (from our course, select 'Inbox' in the Global Navigation menu).
If you contact us Monday-Friday, we will respond within 24 hours.
It is important to me that I don’t miss an email sent by students so I ask that all emails be sent through Canvas! I receive dozens of emails in my school email each day which makes it easy for me to miss an important message from students. Using the Canvas email system separates student emails from my administrative email (and Canvas sends me a special notification) which helps prioritize answering your email first! If you need help with sending a message through Canvas, please visit the following website: Help with Canvas Email
