My name is Nicole Tonnu-Triner. I am currently in my second semester at Cosumnes River College, studying in the Foods and Nutrition program. I have been a caregiver for my husband since he suffered a cerebellar stroke and eventually reached end-stage kidney disease. I assist him with his daily peritoneal dialysis treatment. I am enthusiastic about helping others, especially those who are suffering from similar conditions to my husband. My goal is to share my tested recipe book with peritoneal patients and communities once I complete the Foods and Nutrition program.
My hobbies include reading, tending to rose plants in my garden, creating floral art, playing with our family husky, Sunny, and testing new recipes for a peritoneal dialysis diet from various sources. One of my favorite forms of medication is walking around Laguna West Lake while mindfully listening to my surroundings, admiring the crystal-clear blue sky during the day, and the vivid array of hues from vibrant orange to red at twilight.
It has been a long time since I returned to college. Before our English course began, I was feeling anxious as I have always been doubtful about my ability to write in English. However, with the teaching, guidance, and unconditional support of my professor, Ford, and student assistant, Holm, I feel more confident as my English reading and writing have improved over the past months.
In addition to the constant support and encouragement from our lecturer and student assistant, over the past weeks, I have had the chance to meet with our Cosumnes River College librarians and tutors from the Reading and Writing center for my research assignment. There are no words to describe my admiration for these experts’ generosity and assistance. They took the time to mentor me and offered enlightening comments on all my queries and worries.
As the courses draw to close, I feel much more comfortable with annotation, analysis, MLA format citations, and the writing process. I have learned efficient techniques for finding relevant subjects and correctly citing, paraphrasing, and quoting. Being a competent writer requires completing these crucial phrases.
