I grew up in a small town in central Maine, the daughter of a dedicated teacher and a welder. Education wasn’t just a career in my family—it was a way of life. I saw firsthand how learning could transform lives, and that belief has guided me ever since.
My journey took me far beyond Maine. I studied history at Dartmouth College, fascinated by the systems, people, and stories that shape our world. I also had the opportunity to live abroad in Russia, Ireland, and Australia, experiences that opened my eyes to differing perspectives, ways of living, and ways of being. Those experiences deepened my belief in the power of listening, learning, and embracing diverse viewpoints—lessons I carry into my leadership today.
I earned my master’s in counselor education from the University of Maine, driven by a desire to work directly with students and families. That passion brought me to Minnesota, where I started my career as a school counselor in Minneapolis Public Schools before moving to St. Cloud. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in many roles—counselor, middle-level assistant principal, K-8 principal, secondary assistant superintendent, and now superintendent of St. Cloud Area Schools. Along the way, I earned my doctorate in education from St. Cloud State University, focusing my dissertation on bond referendums—a topic that feels especially relevant as we head toward our facilities referendum this April. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Beyond my work, I am deeply rooted in family and balance. My husband, Aric, and I have two wonderful children and a home filled with love—and a bit of chaos—thanks to our three dogs and two cats. I believe in showing up fully for both my work and my family, knowing that true leadership comes from being grounded in relationships, well-being, and purpose.
Throughout my career, I’ve championed collaboration, local decision-making, and the power of connection. Whether leading a school district or advocating for policies that empower superintendents, I lead with authenticity, hope, and a clear vision for the future of education in Minnesota.
