90 minutes of Literacy
Whole group, direct instruction around identified Literacy Power Standards, using district-approved literacy curriculum (tier 1) 10-15 minute mini-lesson
Small group instruction: Flexible groups formed using student data (Tier 1 and 2) 15-20 minutes groups
PRESS Interventions for students who require intervention
Enrichment for students who are meeting or exceeding
Guided Reading Groups
Groups should include the five Pillars of Literacy
Phonemic Awareness
Phonics
Vocabulary Development
Fluency
Comprehension
2-3 groups a day
Include all aspects of the literacy lesson plan
Individual Conferencing
Develop a conferring calendar based on reading proficiency
Emergency= 2 years below grade level; At risk= 1 year below grade level; On grade level
Independent reading time with accompanying independent work for a developmentally appropriate amount of time (at least 15 minutes for Kindergarten and 20-30 minutes for grades 1-5, with increasing stamina)
Options to set up centers or implement task boards
Closing: 3-5 minutes of a closure to literacy
Examples: Fist to five, partner share out, exit slip
