Masks
All students in grade 1 to Grade 6 are required to wear non-medical or cloth masks indoors at school, including hallways, during classes and on buses. Kindergarten students are encouraged to wear masks, but it is not required.
Masks can be removed for lunch/eating times, recess, and during low-contact physical activities. See the Physical Education tab for a chart of what is considered low-contact.
Hand Hygiene, Sanitizing
All our classrooms have sinks for students to regularly wash their hands with soap and water. Students will wash or sanitize their hands when they enter the class and before they leave the classroom (to go outside for recess, before eating times).
Cleaning will take place at the end of each day with high touch surfaces disinfected throughout the day. Classroom cleaning will focus on frequently touched surfaces, such as door handles and light switches.
Physical Distancing
Physical distancing measures will be layered with other public health measures, such as screening, hand hygiene, cohorting, enhanced cleaning and masking.
The same desk/table will be used by the same student each day, as much as possible. Physical distancing is required, with masking if 2 metre distances cannot be maintained.
If students display COVID-19 symptoms during the school day, they will be separated from the classroom and placed in a separate room, called the Isolation Room. The office will call the student’s family and request an immediate pick up. Staff will supervise until the student is picked up.
