Multi-Service Organizations
Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County offers energy assistance, water assistance, transportation services, rental assistance, homeless services, employment readiness programs, free tax assistance, financial wellness assistance, MNSure application assistance, voter information, and community resources to lower-income residents of Hennepin County.
Reach and Restore (R&R) provides needy families with resources to provide a sense of hope and be a support to get back on their feet. This may include physical needs such as household items, furniture, locating housing or transportation and personal needs such as moral support, friendship, tutoring, counseling, or spiritual guidance. Reach and Restore is not intended to be a traditional “collect and distribute” ministry. Each person or family will be personally contacted. Based on this direct interaction with the individuals, a list of needs will be compiled. That list will then be presented to people with potential resources. When the item or service is located it will be delivered, or connected, to the individual or family by Reach and Restore.
Community Emergency Assistance Programs (CEAP) provides food assistance, housing assistance, a senior Meals on Wheels program, and various children's programs for residents of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park. Children's programs include back-to-school supplies, birthday bags, toys, and baby/toddler care packages.
Prism provides housing-related financial assistance, advocacy, assistance with applications for energy assistance programs, children's programs, and referrals for community resources to address other issues such as transportation, employment, childcare, and mental health care. Children receive backpacks and school supplies, holiday and birthday gifts, and snack packs from their children's programs. Prism also operates a food shelf and a thrift shop.
The Division of Indian Work (DIW) has been a key contributor to the Native community for almost 70 years. Our mission is to support and strengthen urban American Indian people through culturally-based education, traditional healing approaches, and leadership development. They provide a variety of culturally based service including education, counseling and legal advocacy for Urban American Indians.
Hmong American Partnership (HAP) provides services for refugees and immigrants, including job training and employment services, business development assistance, lending and financial services, wealth management services, a Local Emergency Assistance Farmer Fund, health insurance enrollment assistance, and SNAP enrollment assistance. They administer a tobacco-free program, a diabetes prevention program, a substance abuse recover support program, and the program ASCEND, which deals with the sexual exploitation of youth under the age of 25.
Missions, Inc. provides behavioral health, chemical health, and domestic violence services to people experiencing homelessness, chemical addiction, and violence. They operate the Home Free Shelter and the Home Free Community Program. They also run the Mission Nursing Home, a skilled care facility exclusively for men.
Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center provides domestic and sexual violence advocacy and family stabilization for American Indian women and their families. They offer support groups, healing spaces, supportive housing, a Life Skills Parenting Program, and a Family Support Program. They are also involved in the Indian Child Welfare Act Collaborative. Wawokiye, their outreach team, will help (a) concerned person(s) in the event of a loved one going missing.
OutFront Minnesota fights for LGBTQIA+ justice and equity. They provide crisis intervention services, legal assistance, confidential crisis counseling, and other advocacy services for LGBTQ+ victims of violence and harassment. They offer trainings and consultation on LGBTQ issues, provide referrals to legal professionals, assist attorneys on LGBTQ-related cases, represent the community in appellate courts, and work with public agencies on LGBTQ-sensitive policies. They work to support and create school environments that help humans to feel safe, respected, and valued.
SEWA-AIFW (Asian Indian Family Wellness) is committed to serving, supporting, and enhancing family wellness for the South Asian community, especially the vulnerable and underserved. They provide health care access and wellness information and resources; access to family violence resources and supports; and elder socialization activities. They also provide resources and support for the neurodiverse South Asian community and created the South Asian Queer League (SAQL+).
Tubman helps people of all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced relationship violence, elder abuse, addiction, sexual exploitation, or other forms of trauma. Throughout the Twin Cities, Tubman provides safe shelter, legal services, mental and chemical health counseling, youth programming, and community education, including public information campaigns to provide community members the information and support they need to get help or give help.
CROSS Services administers food programs, financial assistance programs, children's programs, and a low-cost used clothing and household item shop. Specifically, they operate a food market, a Meals on Wheels program, mobile food pantries, a grocery delivery program, and a Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors. Their Peace of Mind Financial Assistance provides help with rent payments, utility bills, or sometimes other expenses so that you are able to stabilize housing and employment. They also provide school supplies, beds, and toys to children.
The St. Louis Park Emergency Program’s mission is to identify, address and respond to the critical and emergency needs of residents in St. Louis Park. They are the St. Louis Park community food shelf and social service agency. They directly provide food and clothing to residents in need, as well as advocacy and referrals. They provide crisis rent assistance to St. Louis Park residents in danger of losing their housing due to a financial emergency.
Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) serves the western suburbs of Minneapolis. They provide emergency assistance for rent, mortgages, utilities, healthcare, and vet services. They assist with hygiene, children's birthdays, school supplies, pet food, and winter holiday gifts. The WeCan mobile market delivers groceries and they also operate a Meals on Wheels program. Their Employment Program provides intensive one-on-one job search assistance, resume building, and interview skill training. The Employment Program also provides quarterly budget classes to help clients understand their finances and make good economic choices that will lead them toward self-sufficiency.
