My name is Mrs. Stanton. I live in Battle Creek, Michigan with my family. My husband and I have two sons, an eight year old and a four year old.
I enjoy reading, birds, photography, hiking, and time with family and friends.
I am a graduate of Western Michigan University. I majored in Elementary Education with minors in English and Science.
After graduating from WMU I moved to Arizona and taught 5th grade for three years. I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Endorsement from Northern Arizona University.
As alumnus of Harper Creek Community Schools, I am very excited to continue to be part of the Harper Creek family. This will be my 17th year teaching and 14th year at HCMS. I look forward to making this the best year yet!
Together, we will explore the areas of reading & writing. Reading both novels and nonfiction texts. I strongly encourage all students to be readers. The students will be reading a lot in the classroom and my hope is that they will be reading a lot at home as well, even if it is reading their favorite magazine.
Within our novel units, students will be writing A LOT! The students will write in various genres, including narrative, informational, and argumentative. Students become great writers not just through practice, but also by seeing good writing modeled. What better way to see excellent writing than to read!
