Do I need experience in Sports Medicine to take part in the Internship?

No! Even if you have no experience or knowledge in medicine or sports medicine you are welcome to come take part in the CHS Sports Medicine Internship. We are here to help you gain that knowledge and experience! As long as you come ready to work and learn- we can provide the opportunity for both!

Why do students choose to participate?

The Student Athletic Training Aide experience is a unique opportunity for students interested in pursuing medical careers to be exposed to a medical facility where they have the opportunity to observe, practice, utilize, and teach (to other students, once learned) medical and employability skills under the direct supervision of a certified and licensed medical professional.

While the students observe and perform some skills under direct supervision, they do not make any clinical diagnoses, determine any treatment or rehabilitation plans, or make any return to play decisions. This is the responsibility of the certified and licensed medical professional directly supervising them.

Many interns choose to pursue hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours in this internship experience in order to maximize their benefits from the opportunity. These hours are great for college, scholarship, and medical program applications. The more the students are present, the more opportunity they have to learn and be exposed to live medical occurances.

Kirsten strives to tailor the internship experience for each student's career interest, talk with her today to see how she can help you to achieve your career goals!
