In District 86, all classrooms have a desktop teacher computer, interactive projector and whiteboard, as well as wi-fi access. K-2nd grade students have 1:1 in-school Chromebooks that they will use at various times throughout the school day, while 3rd-8th grade students have 1:1 take-home Chromebooks that they will use at various times throughout the school day as well as have the opportunity to take home each night. Students are responsible for bringing their Chromebook to school charged each day. Additionally, two CJHS exploratory classrooms have a technology-based curriculum. One is a manufacturing lab, and the other is an information technology lab.

We have moved to a more integrated approach to technology within our district. In addition to all of the technology skills integrated into students' core classes, there will also be a focus on digital citizenship, typing, and coding throughout the year during technology lessons.
Our PK-2nd grade students use Seesaw as their Learning Management System, while our 3rd-8th grade students use Google Classroom. We are guided by the Illinois Computer Literacy Knowledge and Skill Development Continuum as well as the Illinois Computer Science Standards.
PK-5 teachers are supported in their technology integration by our Technology Specialist Mrs. Eller, Building Tech Facilitators, and Library Aides. We work as a team to help infuse technology into daily lessons.
All of our 6-8 students are scheduled for two tech courses yearly as exploratory classes whose duration is one quarter of the school year each. Our CJHS certified staff for those courses, Mr. Higgins and Mrs. George, are responsible for their own curriculum.
